The experience
A few days, well spent
Choose a coast, rather than trying to see the whole island. The northeast is a classic sailing base; the south offers a more spacious rhythm. Plan fuel, moorings and marine-park rules with a local operator.
Suggested rhythm
Day 1: arrive at your chosen coast and provision. Days 2–4: short weather-led legs with protected-water stops. Day 5: return to base. Extend on land for villages and local food rather than rushing the sailing.
Getting there & staying well
For northeast sailing, choose Olbia and a marina near your charter base; the south is better served by Cagliari. Distances are substantial. Avoid combining both ends on a short sailing trip.
Plan your budget
Request an itemised quote in the local currency. Include accommodation, airport transfers, activity fees, equipment hire, meals, taxes and travel insurance. Boat trips may add fuel, skipper and marina charges; golf may add caddie, cart and club hire. Flight prices are separate. This guide does not publish a live tariff.
Conditions & local etiquette
Confirm the skipper, vessel capacity, insurance, safety equipment and whether fuel, moorings, cleaning and taxes are included. The skipper decides the safe route based on wind and weather. Check protected-area anchoring rules and avoid seagrass beds.
